Tunicata

The name “ tunicata ” is derived from the unique integumentary tissue called the “tunic”, which contains the cellulose microfibrils.

The tunicates are all marine species and include four classes: They live mainly on plankton. The colonies are produced by budding and the members are conveniently known as ascidiozooids.
